Deutsche Schule Prag is investing in its future: with the “New DSP” project, a modern campus is being created to support children from kindergarten through to the Abitur. New learning spaces and flexible concepts promote individual and multilingual learning.
Deutsche Schule Prag (DSP) is entering a new phase of its development with its ambitious “New DSP” project. The aim is to comprehensively modernise the school campus and meet the growing demand for high-quality, multilingual education starting at kindergarten age. At the same time, the project will significantly expand the school’s educational and spatial possibilities.
The twenty-year-old kindergarten building has already been demolished, and a new three-storey building is now being constructed in its place. It will accommodate both kindergarten and primary school classes. Construction work began at the end of the last summer holidays and is on schedule, with completion planned for autumn 2026.

The school emphasises that the project is not just about expanding space, but about a long-term strategy. The DSP campus enables a continuous educational pathway from kindergarten to the Abitur in both German and Czech. “The work in the kindergarten itself will not change, but many things will change for the better for children and educators. We will have new, modern rooms,” explains Sibylle Moravec, one of the kindergarten’s heads.
The school’s language policy is also being adapted. Since the accreditation of the primary school, advanced German language skills are no longer a primary admission criterion. What matters is the child’s school readiness, which is assessed by a specialist team from the kindergarten and primary school. “Thanks to the close cooperation within our campus, the transition to first grade is very smooth. I always tell parents: for the children, it’s as if they are simply moving into another house. There is no major stress; the children already know the rooms and parts of the teaching staff,” explains Petra Meyer, the second head of the kindergarten.

The primary school already has two parallel classes, which are also open to children without prior knowledge of German. DSP’s concept is based on the idea that children without German language skills will acquire the necessary level of proficiency through their time in kindergarten and primary school, enabling them to study successfully in German at secondary level.
Educational vision and potential
DSP is investing not only in physical capacity, but also designing the new school around modern teaching methods. For several years now, a project-based learning approach has been in place, which will be ideally supported in the new building through flexible learning spaces and dedicated areas for team projects. “We are building for the joy of learning,” summarises Jitka Špetová, Managing Director of Deutsche Schule Prag.
This educational model promotes independent and responsible learning – a decisive factor for the school’s competitiveness in the education market. Its connection to a network of around 140 German international schools, regular staff training and the targeted implementation of educational innovations tailored to pupils’ needs make the school attractive to families seeking a modern, globally oriented education.

DSP: more than just a place to learn
Deutsche Schule Prag is not only a place of learning, but also a vibrant community where pupils, parents, teachers and alumni come together. The school organises public events and cooperates with cultural institutions, universities and companies in Germany and the Czech Republic. With around 500 pupils of various nationalities, DSP is a place where respect and cooperation are part of everyday life. Children learn democracy, tolerance and active citizenship here.
“New DSP” is therefore a strategic investment that combines educational vision with economic foresight. The project reflects the broader trend that schools today are not only places of education, but also key players in the international education market.
