From today, the trial operation of the modernised information displays in Prague buses begins. Passengers will in future receive clear information about the next stops, connections, and estimated journey times – all in real time and in the consistent design of Čitelné Prahy.
From today, 17 February, the Prague Public Transport Company (DPP), together with Operátor ICT and ROPID, is launching a new graphical interface for the internal LCD screens in Prague buses. The modernised system not only presents a unified visual style but also clearer transport information and new features based on real-time data from the city’s Golemio data platform. This platform provides information on the current location of vehicles across the entire Prague public transport network.
Consistent Appearance and Clear Typography
The design follows the visual identity of Čitelné Prahy and uses the typeface Prague Citizen, which will gradually become the central typographic element of the entire PID information system. Passengers thus receive clearly structured and visually consistent information throughout their journey.

New Connection Displays
Shortly before the next stop, information about the following stops and the journey destination alternates with an overview of connections to other lines, the metro, and the train.
Departure times of connecting services are calculated in real time based on the current vehicle position.

Journey Times and Intuitive Stop Display
A key difference from the previous system is the new arrangement of the stops. Instead of being displayed from bottom to top, they are now shown intuitively from top to bottom. Additionally, passengers will in future be able to see the estimated journey time to each stop. Later, information on current disruptions or special cases will also be displayed. The most important information will also be shown in English.

Pilot Operation in 40 Buses
Following successful technical tests, the new graphics will initially be used from today in 40 Solaris Urbino 10.5 buses, which mainly operate on lines 101, 105, 121, 138, 151, 159, and 202. During the pilot operation, which will gradually be extended to additional vehicles, DPP together with ROPID will collect feedback from passengers and drivers. Adjustments can be made based on this feedback before the system is rolled out across all buses.
