The future Praha-Dejvice station is taking shape: new visualisations provide an insight into the planned appearance of the station. As part of the new rail link between Prague, Václav Havel Airport Prague, and Kladno, it is intended to create faster connections and make transfers to the Metro significantly easier.

The Czech railway administration, Správa železnic, has released new visualisations of the planned design for Praha-Dejvice station. The station will form part of the proposed rail link connecting the capital, the airport, and Kladno.

Architecturally, the project involved the studios Monolot and dh architekti. The plan is to move train services underground. The new station will be closer to Hradčanská Metro station, allowing a direct transfer to Line A. At the same time, additional space will be created on the surface for the urban development of the centrally located and urbanistically sensitive area in Dejvice.

The section will connect to the already completed station at Výstaviště. The line will continue along the existing route but will be upgraded to double track and prepared for future electrification. Construction of the new station is scheduled to begin in 2027.

Prague, the international airport, and the largest city in Central Bohemia draw closer together

The new rail link between Prague, Václav Havel Airport Prague, and Kladno is intended to bring the three central points of the region significantly closer together. For years, a high-capacity rail connection to the airport has been under discussion. Many people commute daily from Kladno to the capital, while travellers seek a fast connection to the city centre. The project is designed to meet both needs—directly, comfortably, and without the need to change trains.

In total, six new stations are planned, and twelve existing stops will be modernised. The double-track upgrade will substantially increase the line’s capacity, while full electrification will allow quieter and more environmentally friendly operation. Safety is also a priority: 14 level crossings will be removed, nine of them replaced by underpasses or overpasses, and another eleven completely renewed.

Significantly reduced travel times are among the central arguments for the project. The journey from Masaryk Station to the airport is expected to take around 25 minutes, from Dejvice about 16 minutes. The connection between Masaryk Station and Kladno is planned with a travel time of around 30 minutes.
