Prague is preparing for a major sporting event: For the first time, the Olympics of Children and Youth will take place in the Czech capital. The ceremonial opening at Eden Stadium will be held on 21 June 2026 – tickets are now available.

After the Olympics is before the Olympics: With yesterday marking the end of the Winter Olympic Games in Italy, a new Olympic chapter symbolically begins in the Czech Republic. Since Sunday, 22 February, tickets for the opening ceremony of the Olympics of Children and Youth 2026 (Olympiáda dětí a mládeže) in Prague have been available. The event will take place on Sunday, 21 June 2026, at Eden Stadium.

Prague will host the Olympics of Children and Youth for the first time. Mayor Bohuslav Svoboda speaks of a special honour for the city. The project stands not only for medals, but above all for joy in sport, fair play and formative experiences. The aim is to offer young athletes an environment that recalls the atmosphere of “real” Olympic Games. The opening ceremony at Eden is intended to become an emotional moment for participants, families and fans.

Under the motto “Come and experience the opening ceremony”, the Czech Olympic Committee and the City of Prague invite the general public to support the young athletes on their journey. A dynamic show is planned, featuring traditional elements such as the parade of delegations, the athletes’ oath and the lighting of the flame. The organisers have also announced the appearance of a well-known artist, whose name will be revealed at a later date.

Preparations for the country’s largest multi-sport event are already in full swing

From 21 to 25 June 2026, more than 3,500 young athletes are expected in the capital. Including coaches, organisers, volunteers and guests, the city anticipates over 5,000 accredited participants. The heart of the event will be the Olympic House at the Výstaviště Praha exhibition grounds, which will offer an extensive accompanying programme with free admission from Monday to Thursday.

A total of 33 venues across the city have been selected for competitions in 23 sports. In addition to the opening ceremony at Eden Stadium, the football tournament will be held at the AC Sparta Praha training centre in Strahov. The athletics competitions will take place at the Juliska Stadium of Dukla Prague in Dejvice, the swimming competitions at the Podolí Sports Complex and the canoe slalom in the Troja district. The Výstaviště exhibition grounds will also host six further sports disciplines.

Tickets are available via the website of the Czech Olympic Team as well as through the Ticketportal network. Children under six years of age receive free admission.
