In Prague, the final phase before the opening of the Dvorecký Bridge has begun. Initial test runs mark an important step ahead of the planned opening in April. The bridge is expected to significantly ease the transport network in Prague.
The new Dvorecký Bridge in Prague is entering its final stage of construction. With the first test runs of a tram, the start of operations is now in sight – the new connection is likely to noticeably change public transport in the city.
The bridge over the Vltava will connect Podolí in Prague 4 with Zlíchov in Prague 5. According to current plans, it could open as early as April. Its significance goes far beyond a simple crossing: the Dvorecký Bridge will become an important element of Prague’s transport network and is intended in particular to strengthen public transport.

The focus is on trams, pedestrians and cyclists. Private car traffic is excluded – only emergency vehicles will be permitted to use the bridge. In this way, the city is deliberately promoting sustainable mobility and better connections between the affected districts.
For the first time, a tram has crossed the new bridge. However, this was a technical vehicle operated by Prague Public Transit Company. Due to its distinctive orange livery, it is also internally known as “Pomeranč” (orange).
The operation served to technically inspect the infrastructure. Such measurement runs are a standard procedure before new routes are opened. Among other things, the overhead lines are precisely measured and the track infrastructure is tested for functionality and load capacity.
New Bridge Combines Art, Function and Leisure
The Dvorecký Bridge (Dvorecký most), currently under construction in Prague, will not only connect Podolí and Zlíchov for transport, but is also set to become a new cultural meeting point in the city thanks to modern art installations.
