The tense situation in the Middle East is having a direct impact on air traffic in Prague. On Sunday, 32 connections were initially cancelled. Travellers should expect further restrictions.
Due to the tense situation in the Middle East, 32 flights have initially been cancelled at Prague Airport on Sunday. Only connections to countries in the region are affected. The reason is restrictions in air traffic following the closure of several airspaces as a result of the latest military escalation between Israel, the United States and Iran.
As the airport announced on the platform X, the cancellations are related to the current security situation. Since Saturday, there have been reciprocal military actions in the region following Israeli-American attacks on targets in Iran. Several countries have subsequently closed their airspace or restricted air traffic.
“For today, we have recorded 32 cancelled flights so far, all to destinations in the Middle East,” the airport said. Travellers are strongly advised to regularly check the latest information on the airport’s website as well as on the websites of their respective airlines.
At the same time, the airport advises passengers to wait for direct communication from their airlines before setting off. For travellers who are already at the airport or on their way there, the check-in counters of Qatar Airways and Emirates remain open. There, affected passengers can receive detailed information about their flights and the next steps.
How the situation will develop in the coming days remains unclear. Further flight cancellations cannot be ruled out.
