New RegioFox trains are gradually taking over operations on the busy Posázava-Pacifik line south of Prague. The modern, air-conditioned and barrier-free units form part of a wider fleet renewal across regional routes.

New, air-conditioned and barrier-free RegioFox trains will in future be deployed on the so-called Posázava-Pacifik. The route is among the most heavily used regional connections around Prague – in 2025, it was used by an average of around 4,500 passengers on weekdays.

The renewal of the fleet on non-electrified lines south of Prague is therefore continuing. Following the introduction of new vehicles on line S3 between Prague and Mělník, RegioFox trains will now also operate on lines S8 and S88. These connect the capital with Vrané nad Vltavou and continue onwards to Čerčany, Čisovice and Dobříš. The replacement of the existing trains is to be completed step by step by the beginning of summer.

According to Jiří Ješeta, Member of the Board and Deputy Director General of České dráhy, a total of 38 RegioFox units will be deployed in the Central Bohemian region. A large number are already in operation on routes between Rakovník, Beroun and Prague, as well as since winter on the connection to Mělník. A further nine trains are now designated for the Posázava-Pacifik.

In addition to the Posázava-Pacifik, the new trains will also be used on tourist services, for example on the weekend lines “Brdy” from Prague to Příbram and Blatná, or “Český ráj” towards Jičín. They will also serve parts of the so-called upper Posázava-Pacifik between Čerčany and Zruč nad Sázavou.

In total, České dráhy has ordered 106 RegioFox trains from the Polish manufacturer PESA Bydgoszcz. The majority are already in service – currently, around 90 units are operating in six regions as well as in Prague.

At the same time, further lines within the Prague Integrated Transport system are also being modernised. On electrified routes, for example between Prague, Kralupy nad Vltavou, Ústí nad Labem or Kolín, RegioPanter trains are already in operation. On non-electrified lines, modernised RegioSpider railcars are gradually replacing older Class 810 vehicles, including on connections around Benešov, Vlašim and Sedlčany.

Changes are also planned on the Prague–Kladno route: from May, barrier-free Regionova trains are expected to operate there. In the long term, it is also planned to operate the line entirely with modern electric units following the completion of electrification.
