Prague has once again proven itself to be a magnet for international sporting events. The Figure Skating World Championships attracted more spectators than any previous edition: a total of 127,837 visitors followed the competitions at the O2 Arena.
The Figure Skating World Championships in Prague have set a new attendance record. As the international federation International Skating Union (ISU) announced, a total of 127,837 spectators attended the events at the O2 Arena. While the ISU does not keep official historical attendance statistics, available data suggest that this surpassed the previous high of around 119,000 spectators at the 2000 World Championships in Cleveland.

The title competitions took place from Wednesday to Saturday, with the training sessions on Tuesday and the closing gala on Sunday also attracting strong public interest. The last time the World Championships were held in Prague was in 1993 – then still at the Sportovní hala at the exhibition grounds in Holešovice.
“We expected that many fans would come after 33 years – also because Prague is an attractive host city. However, that the response would reach such a scale surprised us,” said organising chief Evžen Milčinský to journalists. At the largest recent event, around 100,000 spectators attended the competitions in Saitama, Japan, in 2023.

The organisers themselves also highlighted the role of the audience. In a statement, they explicitly thanked the fans, who created an exceptional atmosphere over six days and inspired the athletes to deliver top performances.
