Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) is using the extended Easter weekend for extensive maintenance works on the metro and tram network. Passengers should expect disruptions and replacement services between 3 and 6 April 2026.
During the Easter weekend, Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) will replace additional old wooden sleepers with new concrete sleepers on the oldest section of Metro Line C. Due to the works, metro services will be suspended in both directions between Pražského povstání and Chodov from Friday, 3 April, to Monday, 6 April 2026. During this period, a replacement bus service (line XC) will be in operation.
On the section between Chodov and Háje, trains will operate in shuttle mode, with only one train running on each track.
The replacement bus line XC will run during the day along the route: Pražského povstání – Pankrác – Budějovická – Kačerov – Roztyly – Chodov. Further details as well as the exact locations of the stops are available on the DPP website.

The replacement of sleepers on Metro Line C is part of a long-term modernisation programme. A total of around 1,100 sleepers will be replaced this year. By the end of the year, 16,000 of the approximately 20,000 sleepers are expected to be made of concrete. The full renewal is planned to be completed by 2029 and is to be finished before the automation of Line C.
Works on the tram network between Palackého náměstí and Anděl
At the same time, the transport company is also carrying out works on the tram network. On the section between Palackého náměstí and Anděl, a switch will be replaced and part of the track renewed. In addition, adjacent areas will be repaired and a new control system installed to improve the reliability of switch operation.
