Pastrami pop-up in Prague: Street food event brings New York classic to Holešovice

With a clear focus on quality, craftsmanship and a good atmosphere, the pastrami pop-up marks the start of the new street food season in Prague. At the Holešovická tržnice, international sandwich tradition meets local BBQ culture.

On 23 April, the Holešovická tržnice will become a meeting point for lovers of hearty street food classics: the fourth edition of “PASTRAMI POP-UP” will take place in Hala 11. From 11:00 to 22:00, selected vendors from the Czech BBQ and street food scene will present their interpretations of the famous New York pastrami sandwich. Admission is free.

What may appear at first glance to be a simple sandwich is in fact the result of a complex process. High-quality beef is cured for several days in a spice mixture, then slowly smoked and cooked until it becomes particularly juicy and aromatic. Preparation can often take up to two weeks.

This year, visitors can look forward to, among others, the butcher Naše maso, BBQ specialists Big Smokers, the group Meat Vandals and Bistro Čejka. International vendors will also be present: Take Eat EZ American BBQ & Deli and MK’s BBQ Truck will bring American-style BBQ cuisine, while Piantado and Bistro Manquian Authentic Chilean Food will offer South American sandwich variations.

Of course, the appropriate drinks will also be available. In addition to a selection of wines from the Wine Lovers Truck, there will be craft beers from Czech brewery Pivovar Falkon.

In recent years, the “Pastrami Pop-up” has developed into a fixed date in the local street food scene – a must for anyone who appreciates good food, street food culture and a lively atmosphere.
