The Toughest 400 Metres: Red Bull 400 Returns to Liberec

More than 1,000 participants, a 400-metre course and gradients of up to 35 per cent: the extreme race Red Bull 400 returns to Liberec after five years and once again promises one of the most intense running challenges of the year.

After a multi-year break, the format will return to Ještěd on Saturday, 8 August 2026. At the ski jumping hill in Liberec, more than a thousand runners will take on a short but extremely demanding course that leaves no room to catch their breath.

The concept remains unchanged: 400 metres uphill directly along the landing slope and ski jump – a combination of speed and steep incline that pushes even experienced athletes to their limits. With gradients of up to 35 per cent, the course is among the most challenging of its kind.

Among the prominent participants this year are Eva Adamczyková, Martin Fuksa and Maxim Habanec. In addition to top athletes, the competition is also aimed at ambitious amateurs.

For many, the race is decided in the upper section. Slovak runner Jakub Šiarnik, winner of the last edition in Liberec in 2021, sees the transition over the take-off edge as the key point: this is where it is crucial to pick up speed once again and hold firm mentally.

The race starts in the categories men, women and relay. While individual starters first complete qualifying runs and qualify for the final based on their times, relay teams (4 × 100 metres) compete directly in the final.

Registration for Red Bull 400

Registration opens on 19 May at 12:00 on the website redbull.cz/400. The entry fee is 1,590 crowns for individual starters and 2,590 crowns for teams of four. Interest is traditionally high: at the last race, more than 1,200 participants took part and places filled quickly.

An internationally established format

Red Bull 400 is held not only in the Czech Republic, but is part of an international race series on ski jumping hills in several countries, including Austria, Germany, Slovenia and Poland. The principle is the same everywhere – 400 metres uphill and maximum exertion.
