Historic trains, nostalgic buses and a colourful family programme: Prague Transport Children’s Day will once again transform Praha-Braník railway station into a major celebration for transport enthusiasts of all ages at the end of May. Visitors can look forward to numerous special services and attractions centred around railways and public transport.

This year’s Prague Transport Children’s Day (Pražský dopravní den dětí) will take place at Praha-Braník railway station on Saturday, 30 May 2026. The event runs from 9:30am to 5:00pm and offers an extensive programme for families, railway enthusiasts and fans of historic vehicles.

One of the main attractions will be the historic steam locomotive “Všudybylka” (354.195). The traditional locomotive will operate a total of six services between Praha-Braník and Praha-Zbraslav. The final journey will continue onwards to Vrané nad Vltavou. The first departure leaves Braník as early as 9:26am, while the final special service towards Vrané nad Vltavou is scheduled for 4:33pm.

Special ticket prices, including seat reservations, apply for journeys on the steam train. The Praha-Braník – Praha-Zbraslav route costs 150 crowns for standard tickets and 100 crowns for reduced fares. For the longer journey to Vrané nad Vltavou, adults pay 200 crowns, while reduced tickets cost 150 crowns. Tickets are available in advance via the České dráhy e-shop and at all railway company ticket offices.

Fans of classic diesel railcars will also have the opportunity to enjoy several round trips through Prague aboard a Class 854 railcar. Planned routes include journeys via Zahradní Město, Vršovice, Radotín and Smíchov. Regular České dráhy fares, Prague Integrated Transport (PID) tariffs and the nationwide OneTicket system will apply on these services.

The programme also includes special journeys on historic buses. A total of six vehicles will operate across three special routes around Braník. Vehicles in service will include models such as the Ikarus 280.10, Karosa B 732 and Irisbus Citybus 18M. Travel on the historic buses will be free of charge. Due to limited capacity, organisers recommend boarding at the Nádraží Braník stop.

Visitors can also look forward to a varied accompanying programme. Children will be able to enjoy craft workshops, a bouncy castle and rides on a historic hand-operated rail trolley. Additional attractions include demonstrations by a blacksmith, presentations by the Správa železnic fire brigade, and an exhibition of historic railway vehicles and model railways.

There will also be a wide range of food and refreshments available. In the dining carriage operated by JLV, visitors can sample various specialities. Additional refreshments and transport-themed souvenirs will also be on sale throughout the day.
