Jiřího z Poděbrad Square in Prague Reopens After Redevelopment: Major Celebration on 17 June

Under the motto “Roztančíme Jiřák!”, the newly redesigned square will be transformed into a vibrant centre for culture, music and community gatherings

After more than two years of construction work, one of the best-known squares in Prague 3 will reopen to the public in mid-June. Visitors can look forward to a free cultural programme featuring concerts, dance performances and numerous activities for the whole family.

Following more than two years of extensive redevelopment, Jiřího z Poděbrad Square in Prague 3 will officially reopen on 17 June 2026. A full-day celebration programme will mark the return of this popular public space, which is set to once again serve as an important meeting place for residents and visitors to the Czech capital.

Under the motto “Roztančíme Jiřák!” (“Let’s Get Jiřák Dancing”), the newly redesigned square will be transformed into a vibrant centre for culture, music and community gatherings. Organisers have prepared a varied programme for all age groups.

The official programme begins at 12 noon with the first musical performances. Among those appearing on stage will be the Zvonky–Praha choir, Bendík, Žižkovská smršť and Big Band Plus. The programme will also include dance performances and other cultural presentations.

The official reopening ceremony will take place at 4 pm with the participation of public representatives and other guests. Afterwards, the band The Silver Spoons will take to the stage. The musical highlight of the evening will be a concert by the internationally known group N.O.H.A., beginning at 7.15 pm.

In addition to the stage performances, visitors can enjoy a varied accompanying programme throughout the day, including dance performances, a children's zone and numerous food and drink stalls. Admission to the event is free.

  • 12:00–12:30 pm: Zvonky–Praha

  • 1:15–1:45 pm: Bendík

  • 2:00–2:30 pm: Žižkovská smršť

  • 2:45–3:15 pm: Big Band Plus

  • 3:15–3:30 pm: Street Dance

  • 3:45–3:55 pm: Art 4 People

  • 4:00–4:20 pm: Official reopening of the square

  • 4:55–5:55 pm: The Silver Spoons

  • 7:15–8:15 pm: N.O.H.A.
