Several JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets will fly over Prague on Wednesday as part of a planned training flight. The flypast forms part of a ceremonial state event at Vítkov Hill and does not pose any security risk.

On Wednesday, 22 July 2026, at 11:30am, several JAS 39 Gripen fighter aircraft will fly over Prague as part of a planned training flight. The flypast forms part of a ceremonial state event at the National Memorial on Vítkov Hill.

According to the Prague Capital City Military Command, the flight is a pre-planned training exercise. Increased aircraft noise may be noticeable, particularly in the city centre, during the flypast.

The authorities stress that there is no security risk. The public is asked to remain calm. The flypast is neither an emergency nor an extraordinary security situation.

At the end of June, military aircraft and helicopters flying over Prague prompted numerous concerned reactions on social media. On that occasion, the flight was also connected with a ceremonial state event at Vítkov Hill marking the Day of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic. This time as well, the flypast is solely intended to accompany an official ceremony and is not connected with any military threat.
