Prague's Petřín Funicular: Single Fare to Cost CZK 100 from September
New fare comes into effect on 1 September – Prague public transport travel passes remain valid

Following its extensive modernisation, Prague's Petřín Funicular will return to service in September – but with higher single fares. Prague City Council has approved a new fare structure.
The historic funicular linking Újezd with Petřín Hill has been out of service since September 2024 due to a comprehensive modernisation. Once the work is completed, it is expected to resume operations in September this year with new carriages.
Following the reopening of the Petřín Funicular, passengers will have to pay significantly more for a single journey. Prague City Council has approved a new fare under which a single ride will cost CZK 100. Those who purchase their ticket via the PID Lítačka app will receive a discount and pay CZK 90. The new prices come into effect on 1 September.

The fare change applies exclusively to single tickets. For passengers holding long-term travel passes for the Prague Integrated Transport (PID) system, nothing changes – these will remain valid on the funicular. The 24-hour and 72-hour tickets will also remain unchanged. Children under the age of 15 and seniors aged 65 and over will continue to travel free of charge.
The new carriages were built by the Austrian-Swiss company Doppelmayr/Garaventa based on a design by the Czech design studio Anna Marešová Designers. They feature larger glass panels, providing better views of Prague, and increase capacity from 100 to 120 passengers.

The Petřín Funicular is one of the best-known attractions in the Czech capital. At the same time, it forms part of the city's public transport network and is regularly used by local residents and visitors to the surrounding parkland.
