
Prague Invests Nearly CZK 48 Million in Cybersecurity
The capital plans to modernise and expand its digital security systems within the city administration and Prague Municipal Police

Prague is investing nearly CZK 48 million in modernising its cybersecurity. The digital systems of the city administration and Prague Municipal Police are to be protected.
Prague is strengthening the protection of its digital infrastructure. The capital plans to renew and expand its existing cybersecurity tools within the city administration and Prague Municipal Police. The Fidelis security platform is to be used for this purpose. The bid price under the public tender amounts to around CZK 47.7 million excluding VAT.
The city’s extensive digital infrastructure comprises tens of thousands of components and ensures the operation of important information systems used by Prague City Hall, the individual municipal districts, the municipal police and the city’s camera system. To ensure secure operation, cyber threats must be detected at an early stage and potential attacks repelled quickly.
“Today, a city’s security is ensured not only by firefighters, police officers or flood protection systems. Protecting the digital infrastructure on which the city and its services rely every day is equally important,” explains Prague Mayor Bohuslav Svoboda.
Cyber threats are becoming increasingly complex, meaning that Prague must be prepared accordingly. The investment in modern technologies is intended to help protect data, important systems and the services on which the capital’s residents rely every day.
Real-Time Threat Detection
The Fidelis Elevate platform is already one of Prague’s most important cybersecurity tools. Among other things, it enables comprehensive monitoring of network traffic, real-time threat detection and the automatic classification and prioritisation of security-related events.
The technology also supports subsequent forensic analysis. So-called deception technology can also detect the movements of attackers within a network that has already been infiltrated.
A key component of the system is the response to identified cyber threats and security incidents. The platform supports their investigation, helps limit potential damage and enables affected systems to be isolated and compromised endpoints to be restored.
The stored data can also be used for forensic investigations, audits and compliance with legal obligations towards regulatory and supervisory authorities.
Municipal Police to Be More Closely Integrated into Cybersecurity System
There are also plans to expand the use of the platform at Prague Municipal Police. According to the city, without implementing the system it would have to adopt alternative technical measures to meet statutory cybersecurity requirements. These would require greater financial and staffing resources.
The project is to be financed from the City of Prague’s budget for the years 2027 to 2029.
