From Saturday, major restrictions will affect tram services in Prague 3. The reason is construction work for the new Olšanská–Habrová line as well as the renovation of the Spojovací turning loop.

Major restrictions will affect tram services in Prague 3 from Saturday, 29 August. Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) will begin rebuilding the tracks at the Olšanská/Jana Želivského junction to connect the future Olšanská–Habrová tram line. At the same time, the Spojovací turning loop will be renovated.

The works on Olšanská will continue until 10 October 2026. During this period, tram services between Olšanské náměstí and Nákladové nádraží Žižkov will be suspended in both directions.

Lines 9, 26 and 95 will be diverted via Flora, Olšanské hřbitovy and Želivského. Line 5 will temporarily run via Holešovice and will continue from Nádraží Holešovice as line 6 towards Kubánské náměstí. Line 34 will be suspended entirely. No replacement tram service will operate on this section.

Connection for New Line towards Jarov

The main focus of the construction work is the rebuilding of the existing track junction at the intersection of Olšanská and Jana Želivského. The track layout will be changed so that trams will in future be able to continue straight from Olšanská onto the planned new line towards Jarov.

Spojovací Turning Loop Also Being Renovated

At the same time, DPP is renewing the tracks in the Spojovací turning loop. The closure there will begin as early as Friday, 28 August, at around 11.30 pm and will continue until the early morning of 12 September.

Lines 9, 11 and 98 will terminate at Vozovna Žižkov during this period. Line 31 will serve the section to Kněžská luka and Spojovací. It will operate more frequently during peak hours, running every four minutes.

In addition, during the day, bus line 146 between Kněžská luka and Spojovací will be supplemented by additional X146 services. At night, replacement bus X98 will operate between Biskupcova, Ohrada and Spojovací.

DPP says the overlap between the two construction projects is due to further major works planned for the future. According to the company, the work must be completed before the comprehensive reconstruction of the tram lines on Seifertova, Táboritská and Jičínská streets, which is scheduled for 2027.
