Average Wage in the Czech Republic Rises in Q2 to Nearly 52,000 CZK

Wages in the Czech Republic once again rose significantly in the second quarter of this year. The average gross monthly wage increased by 6.4 per cent year on year to 51,966 CZK.

According to the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ), the average gross monthly wage in the second quarter of 2026 was therefore 3,105 CZK higher than in the same period last year. As consumer prices rose by 2.0 per cent at the same time, this resulted in real wage growth of 4.3 per cent.

“Nominally, the average wage rose by 6.4 per cent to 51,966 CZK in the second quarter,” said Jitka Erhartová, Head of the Labour Statistics Department at the ČSÚ. Employees in administrative and support services recorded particularly strong gains. These include employment and security agencies, where wage levels have so far been comparatively low.

The total wage bill increased by 7.1 per cent year on year. At the same time, the number of employees rose by 0.7 per cent.

Wage growth also continued compared with the previous quarter. Seasonally adjusted, the average monthly wage rose by 1.6 per cent in the second quarter. After incorporating additional data, the Statistical Office also revised the figure for the first quarter of 2026 upwards by nearly two per cent to 49,328 CZK.

Largest Increase in Administrative Services

There were significant differences between individual sectors of the economy. Administrative and support services recorded the strongest increase compared with the second quarter of 2025, rising by 16.6 per cent. Average wages increased by 9.0 per cent in public administration, defence and social security. In the arts, entertainment and recreation sector, the increase was 8.7 per cent.

By contrast, wage growth was significantly lower in other services, at 0.2 per cent, and in mining, at 2.2 per cent.

Across the first half of 2026, the average gross monthly wage in the Czech Republic stood at 50,650 CZK. This was 2,971 korunas, or 6.2 per cent, more than in the same period last year. Taking into account the 1.8 per cent rise in consumer prices, real wages also increased by 4.3 per cent in the first half of the year.
