The chances of a successful trip for mushroom picking to the Czech forests are increasing. A current forecast shows which parts of the country currently offer particularly favourable conditions.

According to the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ), mushroom pickers in many parts of the Czech Republic can expect better conditions this coming weekend. Following the recent rainfall and warm weather, the forecast map for mushroom growth is showing increasingly favourable values.

The situation has improved particularly noticeably in mountainous regions and foothills. Conditions in Bohemia are currently significantly more favourable than in Moravia. In some parts of the country, there is now a fairly good chance of finding mushrooms.

Despite the encouraging outlook, experts continue to urge caution. Dangerous cases of mistaken identity, as well as the incorrect storage or preparation of edible mushrooms, repeatedly lead to health problems.

However, the forecast map does not show the actual occurrence of mushrooms in the forests. Where can the most mushrooms currently be found? A mushroom growth probability map from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute can help. Based on current data on soil saturation and average temperatures, the map provides an insight into the expected conditions for mushroom growth.
