International residents in Prague 3 can now access local news and official updates more easily. The district has introduced a full English-language edition of its municipal newsletter.

Prague 3 has launched a full English-language edition of its municipal newsletter in response to the growing number of foreign residents living and working in the district or spending a significant amount of time there.

The district is becoming an increasingly diverse and cosmopolitan part of the Czech capital. Alongside sizeable Ukrainian, Slovak, Russian and Vietnamese communities, Praha 3 is home to people from dozens of other countries. For many of them, English is the natural language of communication. According to available data from the Czech Statistical Office, Prague 3 has one of the highest proportions of residents from other countries among Prague’s municipal districts.

“Prague 3 is now home to people from all over the world. If we want them to understand what is happening in their district, we must be able to communicate with them. The English edition of the municipal newsletter is one simple way of making information from the district authorities more accessible to them,” said Prague 3 Mayor Michal Vronský.

The English edition is not intended solely for foreign residents with permanent residence in the district. Prague 3 is also home to a growing number of people who work there long-term and rent accommodation locally, despite having their permanent address elsewhere. Information from the district authorities may also be relevant to people who work or run businesses in Prague 3, take their children to playgroups or private nurseries there, or regularly spend their leisure time in the district.

The English edition contains the complete content of the Czech-language municipal newsletter and is available to download as a PDF. The district authorities will assess its use and the level of interest during the first four months.

According to the information currently available, Prague 3 is the first municipal district in the Czech capital to make its entire local newsletter available in English.
