The Czech capital ranks sixth in the new “European Dog Travel Index 2026”. Its particularly high density of dog-friendly restaurants and large green spaces contribute to its strong rating.

Prague is one of the most dog-friendly travel destinations in Europe. In the new “European Dog Travel Index 2026” by French hotel group Accor, the Czech capital ranks sixth, placing it among the ten best European cities for a holiday with a dog.

A total of 50 European cities were compared for the study. Five areas were assessed: the proportion of dog-friendly accommodation, green spaces and off-leash opportunities, the range of dining options, conditions on public transport and veterinary care.

According to the new index, Prague scores particularly well with its high density of dog-friendly restaurants and traditional establishments. This makes it comparatively easy for travellers to take their dog with them when eating out.

There are also numerous green spaces suitable for longer walks. The study highlights Stromovka Park as a particular attraction for dogs. The former royal hunting ground is now one of the largest green spaces in the capital and offers extensive paths, ponds and numerous shaded areas.

Letná Park is also mentioned as an attractive destination. From the slopes above the Vltava, there is not only plenty of space for walks, but also one of the best-known panoramic views of Prague city centre.

Helsinki tops the ranking

Helsinki takes first place in the “European Dog Travel Index 2026”. According to the study, 83 per cent of accommodation there is dog-friendly – around twice the European average. Stockholm follows in second place, scoring particularly well for access to nature and off-leash areas. Vienna ranks third, followed by Berlin and Zurich.
