Major roadworks are scheduled on one of the most important transport routes in north-eastern Prague. A 4.3-kilometre section of Cínovecká towards the city centre will be resurfaced. Drivers should prepare for changes to traffic routes and the closure of individual junctions.

Prague's Technical Road Administration (TSK) will begin extensive roadworks on Cínovecká towards the city centre on Friday, 23 October 2026. Until 10 December, drivers should expect significant traffic restrictions and changes to traffic routes.

The works will cover a 4.3-kilometre section between the Mratínský potok stream and Rochlická Street. Cínovecká is one of the most important transport routes in north-eastern Prague, connecting the capital with Ústí nad Labem and Dresden via the D8 motorway. The multi-lane road runs through the Ďáblice district (Prague 8), among other areas, and plays an important role in commuter and through traffic.

In addition to resurfacing the road, the project includes repairing damaged road drains and replacing drainage grates. Crash barriers will also be repaired, kerbs adjusted or added, and manhole covers realigned. Finally, the affected road sections will receive new road markings.

Traffic Arrangements Coordinated with Roadworks on Kbelská

To minimise the impact on traffic in north-eastern Prague, TSK has closely coordinated the schedule and traffic measures with the third phase of the ongoing reconstruction of the connecting ramps to Kbelská.

During the roadworks, traffic on Cínovecká towards the city centre will be divided into two lanes:

  • One lane will lead to Kbelská towards Hloubětín.

  • The second lane will be diverted onto the opposite carriageway of Liberecká towards the city centre. At Rochlická Street, traffic will return to the regular carriageway.

There will also be restrictions at several junctions and access roads.

Vysočanská/Rochlická junction: The junction will generally remain accessible towards the city centre. However, it will not be possible to exit Cínovecká or Liberecká onto this junction during the roadworks.

Kostelecká junction: The connection from Kostelecká to Cínovecká towards the city centre will be completely closed. Drivers can use Ďáblická as a diversion or, alternatively, the route via Tupolevova and Prosecká.

Free 24-Hour Towing Service

To keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible despite the roadworks, TSK will provide a free towing service in the construction area. This will be available around the clock to remove vehicles that have broken down or been involved in accidents from the affected section.

Prague's Technical Road Administration urges all road users to drive with particular care in the affected area and to follow the temporary traffic arrangements and relevant road signs.
