    Unemployment in the Czech Republic remained at 4.3% in April

    A third of people find a job within three months

    In April 2025, unemployment in the Czech Republic remained stable at 4.3%, which is considered positive news for economic stability. A third of jobseekers find a new job within three months. This is according to the latest figures from the report published today by the Czech Labour Office.

    “Unemployment is not increasing, which is important positive news for the stability of the labour market. In order to maintain this trend and help people find the best possible jobs under changing conditions, we want to further strengthen the retraining system. This has proven to be extremely successful in recent years and has helped many people find more suitable and interesting jobs. We will also fundamentally revise the social benefits system to make it both motivating for work and fair,” said Marian Jurečka (KDU-ČSL), Minister of Labour and Social Affairs.

    Unemployment by region

    At the regional level, the proportion of unemployed people rose in Prague and the Karlovy Vary region (by 0.1 percentage points) compared to the previous month. In a year-on-year comparison, the proportion of unemployed people rose the most in the Karlovy Vary region (by 0.9 percentage points), followed by the Liberec, Moravian-Silesian, Olomouc, and Ústí nad Labem regions (by 0.7 percentage points each).

    The number of vacancies registered with the Labour Office rose by more than 4%

    At the end of April, employers offered a total of 95,798 vacancies via the Labour Office – an increase of 4,046 from March, or 4.4%. On average, there are currently around 3.3 jobseekers for every vacancy in the Czech Republic. The highest number is recorded in the districts of Karviná (23.7), Sokolov (17.2), Děčín (12.8), Hodonín (12.1), and Bruntál (10.5). Employers are looking for candidates with primary education or lower qualifications for almost 73% of registered vacancies; 68.7% of vacancies are also suitable for foreigners.

    One third of jobseekers find a job within three months

    The structure of jobseekers according to the duration of their registration with the Office of the Czech Republic has changed over the last twelve months. In a year-on-year comparison, the proportion of those unemployed for less than three months has fallen by 2.4 percentage points to 26.2% of the total number of unemployed.
