Europe’s Best Cities 2025: Prague Among the Top 10 Most Liveable Cities in Europe

The best cities in Europe to live, work, and invest in 2025

Prague ranks ninth in the latest Europe’s Best Cities Report by Resonance Consultancy. The Czech capital impresses with its rich culture, vibrant nightlife, and high quality of life, while also showcasing how modern urban transformation can be successfully achieved.

Prague ranks 9th in the Europe’s Best Cities Report 2025 by Resonance Consultancy. The Czech capital impresses with its landmarks, nightlife, and other remarkable advantages. This is the third annual edition of the report, and for the first time, it is based on a new partnership with the global market research company Ipsos, incorporating perception-based data in addition to objective key figures.

To assess the attractiveness and perception of Europe’s best cities in 2025, Resonance analysed metropolitan areas in statistical conurbations with more than 500,000 inhabitants (according to Eurostat, Demographia, and national statistical offices).

Cosmopolitan city in transition: Prague impresses with its culture and quality of life

Two years after the pandemic, tourists have returned to the Czech capital. In the meantime, however, the city administration has made forward-looking decisions to ensure that Prague’s museums — ranked third, ahead of cities such as Berlin and Rome — and attractions (surpassed only by London) remain accessible to residents who discovered them during the pandemic, when tourism came to a standstill.

According to the new Europe’s Best Cities report, places like Čapadlo on the banks of the Vltava River have been transformed into open-air stages and galleries reminiscent of Paris. Náplavka, with its former ice warehouses embedded in the river’s retaining walls, has been revitalised as a lively urban market and is now home to numerous pop-up bars. Prague’s compact, fairytale-like walkability delights visitors with centuries-old cobblestones and the publicly accessible Prague Castle, which — together with Palais Salm, housing the exhibition spaces of the National Gallery — was reopened in 2023 after extensive renovation. The Baroque Clam-Gallas Palace in the Old Town also reopened to the public after three years of restoration.

The economy is flourishing, too. The city’s four universities, its comparatively moderate cost of living, and its nightlife — ranked second in Europe — attract young talent and billions in foreign investment. This comes from property developers as well as established companies such as Microsoft, Cisco, and Oracle, all of which are betting on Prague as a strategic location.

Prague’s luxury gastronomy on the rise

Prague’s reputation as a hotspot for luxury gastronomy continues to grow, with prominent new openings. Hyatt’s Andaz Prague has reimagined the historic ‘Sugar Palace’ on Senovážné Square, while Marriott’s W Prague — which merges the Art Nouveau grandeur of the former Grand Hotel Evropa with a modern, elliptical wing designed by architecture firm DAM — makes a bold design statement on Wenceslas Square. Meanwhile, the former InterContinental Prague is set to reopen as the Fairmont Golden Prague after extensive renovations, offering views of the Vltava River and the UNESCO-listed Old Town. The revitalisation of the Fairmont on prestigious Pařížská Boulevard includes six culinary highlights — from sustainable fine dining at Zlata Praha to the Southeast Asian-inspired lounge, the Golden Eye, styled in retro 1970s flair.

These ambitious projects demonstrate that Prague is seizing the opportunity to enhance its global appeal — for discerning guests and wealthy investors seeking European capitals with untapped potential. Cities not only ready for a resurgence, but also equipped with the talent to sustain it in the long term.
