Strawberry season is beginning – and with it comes a sweet invitation: numerous farms across the Czech Republic invite you to pick your own strawberries. There’s no fresher, more affordable, or more natural way to enjoy the summer.
Now is the perfect time to head into the fields in Prague and beyond to harvest strawberries yourself. The Ministry of Agriculture is promoting the benefits of locally grown strawberries over imported ones: they are not only tastier but also healthier.
A wonderful activity for all ages is the so-called samosběr – a service through which many Czech farmers offer visitors the chance to pick their own strawberries. Compared to supermarket prices, these berries often cost nearly half as much. But the appeal goes far beyond savings: for nature lovers, picking strawberries is a genuine outdoor experience.
The Ministry of Agriculture has created a dedicated website offering an overview of participating farms. Visitors can choose their region and receive a list of nearby farms. A click on a farm’s name reveals all the key information – from prices and opening hours to address details and more.
