    Bohemia JazzFest 2025 kicks off on 8 July in Prague: Jazz Under the Open Sky

    Tuesday marks the start of one of Central Europe’s most renowned open-air jazz festivals

    Bohemia JazzFest 2025 begins on 8 July with a top-class open-air evening in the Royal Garden of Prague Castle. The opening night will bring together young talents and international jazz stars from Denmark – as always, admission is free.

    On Tuesday, 8 July 2025, the Royal Garden of Prague Castle will become the stage for the opening of the 20th edition of Bohemia JazzFest. At 4:30 pm, the starting signal will be given for one of Central Europe’s most renowned open-air jazz festivals. In the following days, the festival will also visit other cities, including Pilsen, Hluboká nad Vltavou, Prachatice and Brno. As always, admission is free.

    Programme for 8 July in Prague

    The young band Backstep, a modern jazz fusion quintet from the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory, will kick things off at 4:30 pm. In their original compositions and reinterpretations, the five musicians combine the freedom of the jazz tradition with a modern sound, striking a remarkable balance between composition and improvisation.

    At 5:30 pm, acclaimed Danish pianist and composer Kathrine Windfeld will take the stage. With five albums featuring exclusively her own works for big band and sextet, Windfeld has established herself as one of the most exciting voices in European jazz.

    Bohemia JazzFest 2025

    From 7 pm, the Danish trio Ibrahim Electric will provide pure energy. For over a decade, the band has been one of the most popular live acts on the European jazz scene.

    At 8 pm, the OSA Jazz Competition Awards 2025 will follow. For the 16th time, the Czech collecting society OSA, in cooperation with the festival, will award a prize for the best jazz composition by a composer under the age of 35.

    The grand finale of the evening will be the performance of the Sinne Eeg Group at 8:30 pm. The multi-award-winning Danish singer Sinne Eeg is one of the leading voices of Scandinavian jazz. With her expressive singing and original compositions, she has been thrilling international audiences for years.

    Since 2005, Bohemia JazzFest has been organised by internationally renowned jazz guitarist Rudy Linka. With his keen sense of quality and atmosphere, he has made the festival an integral part of the European jazz scene. In 2025, admission to all concerts will remain free – a gift to all music lovers and the cities hosting this special cultural event.
