The Mattoni Liberec Trail Run 2025 will bring the RunCzech season to a spectacular close on Sunday. With both main races sold out and more than 3,400 runners taking part, the event combines international competition, family-friendly fun and the natural beauty of the Jizera Mountains.
The RunCzech 2025 running season will reach its grand finale on Sunday, 5 October, with the Mattoni Liberec Trail Run – a unique race that takes runners from the heart of the city into the forests and hills of the Jizera Mountains. Located just 20 minutes from the Czech–German border, Liberec and the Jizera Mountains are perfect for trail running due to their beautiful, varied and accessible terrain.
Now in its 8th edition, the event has become a fixture on the Czech running calendar, attracting thousands of participants of all ages. This year, both main races – 22k and 12k – sold out in advance, bringing together 2,200 runners, while the dm family mile and dm bambini run will welcome another 1,200 children and families.

The runners are an international mix. While Czech participants make up the majority at 88%, 12% come from abroad – representing 31 different nationalities. The largest groups are from Germany, Slovakia, Poland, France and Austria.
Few races can offer such variety: cobblestones and asphalt give way to forest trails, roots, stones and gravel paths. Highlights of the route include the Liberec Zoo, the Forest Swimming Pool, the Bedřichov Reservoir and breathtaking views of Ještěd Mountain.

Though local legend and 15-time national champion Vít Pavlišta is out this year, the start lists are stacked. National 10k champion Martin Zajíc headlines the 22k race, while record-holder Damián Vích leads the favourites in the 12k distance. They will be joined by Czech champions such as Petr Pechek and Ondřej Chour, as well as the husband-and-wife mountain running duo Tereza and Tomáš Hudec.
Runners and spectators will also enjoy live music at four spots along the course, part of the Mattoni Music Festival, created in collaboration with Prague’s United Islands and Metronome festivals. The event also supports charity, with proceeds going to Domov sv. Josefa, which helps people living with multiple sclerosis.

With more than 400 volunteers, extensive medical coverage and the support of the Liberec community, the race is a celebration of sport and health.
The highlights from the race will be broadcast on ČT Sport on Thursday, 9 October.
