BODY WORLDS opens on Friday at the Westfield Chodov shopping centre in Prague

Visitors can look forward to a fascinating journey inside the human body

On Friday, the BODY WORLDS exhibition opens at Prague’s Westfield Chodov shopping centre. The show, created by German anatomist Gunther von Hagens, invites visitors on an impressive journey into the inner workings of the human body.

The internationally successful exhibition BODY WORLDS, conceived by German anatomist and inventor of plastination Gunther von Hagens, is coming to Prague. From 10 October, the show will be on display at the Westfield Chodov shopping centre. Visitors can embark on a fascinating journey into the human body – accompanied by specially trained medical students who provide in-depth insights into human anatomy.

A lesson about the human body

BODY WORLDS offers a unique look at the structure and functioning of the human organism – from the skin, muscles and skeleton to the nervous, respiratory and circulatory systems. Using real plastinated bodies and organs, the exhibition vividly demonstrates how complex, resilient and at the same time fragile the human body is.

A particularly noteworthy aspect of the exhibition is its educational concept: medical students guide visitors through the various sections, explaining the exhibits in an age-appropriate way and answering questions – an approach that makes the exhibition both informative and interactive.

In addition to presenting scientific facts, the exhibition aims above all to encourage reflection – on one’s own lifestyle, health, diet and physical activity.

“We want to inspire people to live more consciously and to understand better how much they can influence their own health,” says Květa Havelková of the organising company JVS TRADE GROUP.

Visitors will also see real examples of the effects of smoking and obesity – including a lung blackened by smoking and bodies with excessive fat tissue. The aim is to raise awareness of the consequences of an unhealthy lifestyle.

The secret of a long life

Another part of the exhibition focuses on longevity and healthy ageing. Through photographs, infographics and anatomical specimens, visitors learn how diet, exercise, emotional balance and preventive care can significantly influence the quality and length of life.

Suitable for families and school groups

The exhibition is not just aimed at adults. Children can explore a special discovery trail that introduces the topics in a playful way. At the entrance, young visitors receive a booklet with stamp fields to complete during their tour.

BODY WORLDS has also proved to be a source of inspiration worldwide for young people interested in health-related professions. “Often, it’s precisely this exhibition that gives the decisive impulse to become a doctor, nurse or paramedic,” adds Havelková.

    A global phenomenon

Since its launch, BODY WORLDS has been visited by more than 50 million people worldwide. All bodies on display come from voluntary donors who have chosen to contribute to science and education.

The exhibition covers 1,500 square metres at the Westfield Chodov shopping centre, located directly at Chodov metro station (Line C). Visitors can also take advantage of a large car park, with the first two hours of parking free of charge.
