Polish Film Festival Prague 2025: the Best of Polish Film and Art

The twelfth edition of the 3Kino Festival marks a new chapter in its history

Prague is set to host the Polish Film Festival Prague 2025, celebrating the very best of Polish cinema. The festival shines a spotlight on bold, socially resonant films, international co-productions, and unique artistic projects that connect audiences across Europe.

The twelfth edition of the 3Kino Festival marks a new chapter in its history. Now under the name Polish Film Festival Prague, this year’s event places the spotlight firmly on Polish cinema, widely regarded as one of the most vibrant, original, and reflective film traditions in contemporary Europe. At the same time, the festival retains its Central European identity, fostering a dialogue between film, visual arts, and music that transcends cultural and generational boundaries.

Today, Polish cinema ranks among the most significant and influential in Europe. Works by directors such as Paweł Pawlikowski, Jerzy Skolimowski, Agnieszka Holland, and Małgorzata Szumowska have won the highest international honours – Oscars, Golden Lions, and Cannes awards – while retaining their authenticity and social resonance. The festival’s competitive section will therefore present audiences with the very best of this year’s Polish filmmaking, including international co-productions.

“Every year, we aim to show that cinema can be more than an image on a screen. It is a language through which we speak of pain, hope, and the changes of the world around us. The new name highlights our focus on Polish filmmaking, but the idea remains the same – to connect cultures and create a space where art becomes dialogue,” says festival director Vavřinec Menšl.

Central Europe in the Supporting Programme

Although the festival carries a new title, it preserves what made the original 3Kino Festival unique: its Central European openness and its engagement with cultural, historical, and artistic dialogues. The supporting programme includes projects that extend beyond the cinema screen – from marathons of student films from leading regional schools, to exhibitions inspired by memory and freedom, and musical performances that merge classical traditions with experimentation.

The Polish Film Festival Prague is more than just a showcase of films. It is an open space where image meets sound, past intersects with present, and audience meets artist. For one week, Prague transforms into a city where culture regains its original purpose: to touch, connect, and inspire.
