Metro Line C Partially Closed over Extended Weekend – Replacement Buses in Operation

Between the stations Hlavní nádraží and Muzeum C, 178 wooden sleepers will be replaced

The Prague Public Transport Company is renewing old wooden sleepers from the 1960s and 1970s on Metro Line C. For the works between Hlavní nádraží and Muzeum, metro services will be suspended from Saturday to Monday.

The Prague Public Transport Company (DPP) is using the upcoming extended weekend to replace further old wooden sleepers on Metro Line C. The works affect the section between the stations Hlavní nádraží and Muzeum C.

Metro services on Line C will be suspended in the affected section from Saturday, 15 November, to Monday, 17 November 2025, in both directions. During this period, the Prague Public Transport Company has set up a replacement bus service, line XC, for passengers. Full metro services will resume from Tuesday, 18 November 2025.

    Replacement of Wooden Sleepers

As part of the works, 178 original wooden sleepers, dating from the late 1960s and early 1970s – the construction period of the oldest section of the Prague Metro – will be replaced with new concrete sleepers. The repairs will take place both between the stations Hlavní nádraží and Muzeum C and within the Muzeum C station itself. Once these works are completed, more than three-quarters of the original wooden sleepers on the oldest metro section Kačerov – Florenc C will have been renewed.

    Traffic Measures and Replacement Services

    • Partial Operation: Line C will continue to run from Háj to Pražského povstání and from Letňany to Hlavní nádraží; a single-track service will operate between Florenc C and Hlavní nádraží.
    • Replacement Bus: Line XC will run during the day on the route Hlavní nádraží – Muzeum – I. P. Pavlova – Vyšehrad – Pražského povstání.
