Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: 4 Million Copies Sold and Visitor Boom at Historical Sites

The Czech developers now also plan to release a complete edition of the game

The Czech video game Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 continues to enjoy international success: since its release in early February, four million copies have already been sold. The hype surrounding the medieval role-playing game is also having an impact on real-life locations – places such as Kutná Hora and the Trosky Castle ruins have seen significantly increased visitor numbers.

The Czech game released this year, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, continues its international success unabated. Prague studio Warhorse has announced that, since the release of the second Kingdom Come instalment in early February, four million copies have now been sold. Alongside the recently released third expansion pack and a Gold Edition, the developers now also plan to bring out a complete edition of the game.

The launch of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was rapid: one million copies were sold on the first day alone, rising to two million within two weeks. In May, Warhorse reported three million copies sold, and the four million mark has now been reached around six months after release. The game launched on 4 February and has since received three expansions.

A video game becomes a tourism factor

The success of the series is evident not only in sales figures. Since the launch of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, a number of Czech locations have recorded a noticeable increase in visitor numbers – particularly among younger people. Places such as Kutná Hora, the nearby Suchdol, and the Trosky Castle ruins in the Bohemian Paradise are currently experiencing a real surge. The worldwide hype surrounding the game, which faithfully recreates historical sites, seems to have sparked interest in real-life exploration.

Already in April, just a few weeks after release, visitor numbers soared. The trend was particularly striking in Suchdol near Kutná Hora – previously a little-known location that served as the template for a medieval village in the game. The Trosky Castle ruins have also benefited massively from the renewed popularity: it is now among the five most-visited monuments of summer 2025 in the Czech Republic.

When the virtual world becomes reality

The success is not confined to the virtual sphere. The Kingdom Come: Deliverance Live project serves as a bridge between digital entertainment and real-life travel experiences. The aim is to make the game world tangible at the original locations – with themed tours, interactive offerings, and events on site. The initiative is supported by local municipalities, tourism associations, and cultural institutions.
