Automotive Industry in the Czech Republic: Slight Decline in Passenger Cars, Electromobility Continues on a Growth Path

Bus Production in the First Ten Months of the Year with a Significant Increase

The Czech automotive industry remains a decisive driver of the economy. Despite a slight decline in passenger car production, the electromobility segment continues to record strong growth.

Automobile production in the Czech Republic once again proves to be a stable pillar of industry this year – despite a slight decrease in the passenger car segment. Between January and October, a total of 1,214,016 vehicles rolled off domestic production lines, representing a moderate decline of 2 per cent compared with the same period last year.

The development of electrified vehicles was particularly dynamic. In the first ten months, 183,205 battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) and 52,002 plug-in hybrids were produced. The share of fully electric cars in overall domestic production thus rises to 19.4 per cent.

“The European market continues to show increasing demand for hybrid vehicles, which now account for more than one third of all new registrations,” emphasises Zdeněk Petzl, Managing Director of the Automotive Industry Association. The start of production of the Toyota Aygo X Hybrid in Kolín in November is another important step. Overall, the moderate 2 per cent decline is “a good result” given the current economic conditions.

    Škoda Auto

The manufacturer from Mladá Boleslav produced 784,518 vehicles from January to October, an increase of 2.7 per cent. The share of electrified models – battery and plug-in hybrids – stands at 22.7 per cent (178,434 vehicles).

    Hyundai Nošovice

At the Nošovice plant, 238,475 vehicles were produced, around 16 per cent fewer than last year. Of these, 29,540 were fully electric cars and a further 27,233 plug-in hybrids. Electrified models therefore account for 23.8 per cent of the brand’s total production in the Czech Republic.

    Toyota Kolín

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Czech Republic produced 191,023 vehicles, almost identical to last year’s figure. More than half of these were the hybrid model Yaris HEV.

A particular milestone is the start of production of the new Toyota Aygo X Hybrid on 12 November 2025 – the first full hybrid in the A segment and currently Toyota’s most affordable hybrid model in Europe. The plant, which has produced more than 4.5 million vehicles since 2005, is also preparing for the future production of battery-electric models.

Bus Production in the Czech Republic

Bus production in the Czech Republic experienced a significant upswing in the first ten months of the year. A total of 4,588 vehicles rolled off the production lines, an increase of 28.1 per cent compared with last year. The largest share was contributed by Iveco CR, which produced 4,232 buses and an additional 143 built-up units. SOR Libchavy also increased its output, producing 331 buses – a rise of 12.6 per cent. The electric bus segment developed particularly dynamically: with 295 vehicles produced – the majority by Iveco CR – this figure tripled compared with last year.
