After almost a year of construction work, Prague’s Pankrác metro station has reopened to passengers. The modernised Line C underground station was officially brought back into operation on Friday.
Since yesterday, Friday, 19 December, the Pankrác metro station on Line C has been open again following extensive renovation work. After nearly a year of modernisation, the station was reopened by representatives of the city administration and Prague Public Transport Company. The first train stopped there at 14:09.

After around eleven months of construction work, Pankrác station on Line C has resumed regular operations ahead of the holidays. The modernisation included, among other things, new transfer routes to the future Line D as well as the replacement of escalators and the lift.

The comprehensive refurbishment of the station was closely linked to the construction of the new Metro Line D. According to the transport company, the new transfer routes to Line D have been completed, as has the replacement of the escalators and the lift.

Pankrác station is one of the oldest stations in the Prague metro network. It was opened on 9 May 1974 as one of the first of what are now a total of 61 metro stations and was originally named Mládežnická.

Českomoravská Station to Reopen in March – in Time for the 2026 Figure Skating World Championships
In parallel with Pankrác, Českomoravská Station on Line B was also closed at the beginning of the year for a comprehensive modernisation. There, escalators, pipelines and technical systems are to be replaced, and lifts installed. According to the Prague transport operator, some of the station’s load-bearing structures were in significantly worse condition than expected. This required additional measures, causing a delay in the construction schedule. The current plan is for Českomoravská Station to reopen before 25 March next year – in time for the start of the 2026 Figure Skating World Championships at the nearby O2 Arena.
