Troja will once again become the stage for extraordinary concert experiences at the end of June. Under this year’s motto “Between Heaven and Earth”, the Troja Festival combines classical music with unique venues and a distinctive atmosphere along the Vltava River.

Prague’s Troja district will once again host extraordinary concert experiences at the end of June. From 18 to 23 June 2026, the third edition of the Troja Festival will take place, combining classical music with unique venues and a distinctive atmosphere. Under this year’s motto “Between Heaven and Earth”, visitors can expect a programme featuring renowned artists, chamber music and unusual concert locations along the Vltava River.

Curated by violinist Josef Špaček, the festival brings concerts to historic buildings, industrial sites, gardens and the modernised Prague Planetarium. The aim is to connect music with places that create a special atmosphere and allow visitors to step away from everyday life, Špaček explains.

The festival opens on Thursday, 18 June, at the newly renovated Prague Planetarium. The opening concert, titled “In the Beginning…”, combines classical music with a virtual journey through space. The programme includes the overture to Joseph Haydn’s “The Creation”, the rarely performed “Concerto per Galileo Galilei” by Luboš Fišer, as well as Richard Strauss’ famous work “Also sprach Zarathustra”, known from 2001: A Space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick. The performance will be presented in a chamber arrangement by Tomáš Ille featuring a total of 18 musicians.

On Friday, 19 June, the festival moves to the former brewery site TROYA. Among those performing are internationally acclaimed pianist Denis Kozhukhin and cellists Harriet Krijgh and Timotheos Gavriilidis-Petrin. Together with Josef Špaček, Joel Link and Eva Krestová, they will perform works by Dmitri Shostakovich and Antonín Dvořák.

Another highlight follows on Saturday, 20 June, at the more than 120-year-old sewage treatment plant in Bubeneč. Due to its distinctive acoustics, the historic industrial hall is regarded as an exceptional concert venue. The programme includes Souvenir de Florence by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, as well as a quintet by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart featuring clarinettist Anna Paulová.

On Sunday evening, the programme at the TROYA site begins with a performance by the crossover ensemble Cello Republic, known for its energetic concerts. Later, the festival once again invites audiences to an open-air concert at Prague Zoo. Under the title “Dreaming”, works by Camille Saint-Saëns, Claude Debussy and Richard Strauss will be performed.

The closing concert takes place on Monday, 22 June, in the Imperial Hall of Troja Château. Renowned Czech pianist Lukáš Vondráček will once again be among the performers. The programme includes works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Sergei Prokofiev and Franz Schubert.

The festival concludes on Tuesday, 23 June, with an evening of cimbalom music and wine. This year’s guest of the traditional midsummer evening is Hungarian violinist Lajos Sárközy, who combines classical music with jazz, folklore and Hungarian Roma music. Together with musicians Ivan Herák and Josef Fečo, the evening promises an atmospheric finale with music and dancing.

With its blend of classical music, unique venues and summer atmosphere, the Troja Festival has meanwhile become one of the most interesting cultural events of Prague’s summer season. Further information about the programme and tickets can be found on the festival website at trojafestival.cz.
