Prague is preparing for one of the country’s biggest youth sporting events: In June 2026, the Olympiáda dětí a mládeže will take place in the Czech capital for the first time in its history. The official medals and winners’ trophies for the games have now also been unveiled.
On Tuesday, Prague officially unveiled the medals and winners’ trophies for the Olympiáda dětí a mládeže 2026. The youth Olympic event will take place in the Czech capital for the first time in its history this June and is expected to bring around 3,500 young athletes from across the country to Prague.
The presentation of the medals and trophies took place symbolically on the roof of the Křižík Pavilions at the Výstaviště Holešovice exhibition grounds in Prague. The so-called Olympijský dům, the Olympic House, will also be located there during the games.

Prague’s Councillor for Education and Sport, Antonín Klecanda, described the Olympics as an important opportunity to inspire young people through sport and fair play. At the same time, he stressed the importance of high-quality venues and a representative appearance for the event.
Prague Mayor Bohuslav Svoboda highlighted the symbolic significance of the medals. According to him, they should serve not only as a reminder of sporting achievements, but also of the time when participants represented their regions in Prague.

The medals were designed by Anton Jablonskij, who is currently studying at Prague’s UMPRUM Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design. His concept is based on a stylised version of the Olympic laurel wreath and deliberately uses a modern, geometric design. Instead of a traditional closed medal, the designer opted for an open-frame shape incorporating a logo featuring the motif of the Vltava River.
The winners’ trophies were designed by design student Veronika Fejtová. Her concept is based on the idea of “steps to success” and is intended to symbolise the many small steps young athletes take on the path to exceptional achievements. The minimalist trophies combine a metallic base with a cup made of clear glass.

The Olympiáda dětí a mládeže 2026 will take place from 21 to 25 June 2026 at numerous locations across Prague. The opening ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, 21 June, at the Eden Stadium. Competitions in 23 sports will be held in total. Venues include Sparta Prague’s training centre at Strahov, the Juliska Stadium (Dukla Prague), the Podolí swimming complex and the whitewater course in Troja.
The central Olympic House at the Výstaviště exhibition grounds will be open daily to visitors during the games and, alongside ceremonies, will also offer an extensive accompanying programme. Admission to the sporting events in Prague will be free of charge.
