České Dráhy Expand Pendolino Services Between Prague and Opava During the Summer

Demand for the direct Pendolino connections between Prague and Opava continues to grow. As a result, České dráhy will expand the SC Opavan service with two additional direct connections during the summer season from June onwards.

The Czech railway operator České dráhy will expand its direct SC Opavan connections between Opava and Prague from June. Due to high demand and the strong occupancy rates of the existing Pendolino trains, two additional direct connections will be added during the summer season.

From Thursday, 4 June 2026, the SC Opavan train will also operate on Thursdays for the first time. The new SC 513 service will depart Prague Main Station at 4:30 p.m. and arrive at Opava východ at 8:01 p.m. In the opposite direction, from Friday, 5 June 2026, the additional SC 518 service will operate every Friday morning from Opava východ at 10:53 a.m. to Prague, where arrival is scheduled for 2:26 p.m.

According to České dráhy, ticket sales have already started across all sales channels. Seat reservations are compulsory for these services.

“The existing Opavan connections are operating at very high occupancy levels. Especially during peak periods, seats are frequently completely sold out. That is why we decided to expand the service for the summer season,” said Jiří Ješeta, Deputy Director General and Member of the Board of České dráhy responsible for passenger transport.

The new connections are intended to offer travellers greater flexibility – for example for earlier returns from business trips, weekend excursions or short stays. At the same time, the direct Pendolino connection without transfers will remain available.

In addition to the new connections, the existing SC Opavan trains will continue to operate. The current Friday SC 513 service will still depart Prague for Opava at 4:30 p.m., while on Sundays the SC 502 service will run from Opava východ to Prague at 3:48 p.m.

The expansion of the service is initially planned only for the summer season. Advance ticket sales are currently available until the end of August. During the summer months, České dráhy plans to evaluate the occupancy and economic viability of the new connections before deciding on a possible continuation after the end of the season.
