Despite delays to the construction works, the popular swimming pool complex in Prague will remain open this summer. Visitors will be able to use the area temporarily with provisional facilities – and free of charge.
Construction work on the new visitor and service building at the Motol swimming pool in Prague is nearing completion. Due to persistently low temperatures around the turn of the year, work had to be temporarily suspended, delaying the project by around one month. According to the city, the new building is now expected to be completed in July.
As the new changing rooms and sanitary facilities will not yet be available at the start of the summer season, the city decided to offer free admission throughout the entire season. In addition, mobile toilets and a snack stand will be available to visitors from June onwards.

The swimming pool has been open since yesterday, Friday 22 May. The food stand is expected to operate from 1 June until the end of the season in September.
Following the planned handover of the building in July, the city intends to negotiate with the authorities over the temporary use of at least the ground floor. Sanitary facilities, changing rooms and showers are being created there. At the same time, Prague is already preparing the selection of a future operator, who is expected to use the upper floor as a sauna area while also operating the swimming pool and bistro.
The new building complex was constructed further away from the edge of the pond than the previous facilities and partially integrated into the hillside. In addition to toilets, showers and changing rooms, the complex will also include a gastronomic area with seating, as well as technical and operational facilities for staff and maintenance of the site.
