The Czech Financial Administration and the Ministry of Finance on Thursday presented the latest ranking of the 20 largest corporate income taxpayers for 2025. The car manufacturer Škoda Auto took first place, followed by the energy group ČEZ and Česká spořitelna.

The annually published list recognises companies that make a particularly important contribution to public finances through their tax payments. Corporate income tax is one of the most important sources of state budget revenue and helps finance areas such as healthcare, education and transport infrastructure.

According to the Financial Administration, Škoda Auto paid a total of CZK 17.6 billion in corporate income tax last year. ČEZ follows in second place with CZK 10.5 billion. Škoda Auto therefore replaces the previous leader at the top of the ranking. Česká spořitelna ranks third with tax payments of around CZK 4.7 billion.

Finance Minister Alena Schillerová emphasised during the award ceremony the importance of major taxpayers for the stability of public finances. Their contributions enable the financing of key state functions while also supporting efforts to address current economic challenges.

The ranking also reflects longer-term economic developments. Companies from the energy, automotive and banking sectors continue to be particularly well represented. In total, five banks are among the country’s 20 largest taxpayers. Alongside Česká spořitelna, these include Komerční banka in seventh place and Československá obchodní banka in eleventh place.

Altogether, the 20 recognised companies paid approximately CZK 65.4 billion in corporate income tax in 2025. This represents an increase of around CZK 10 billion compared with the previous year. According to the Financial Administration, these companies not only make a significant contribution to public finances but are also among the country’s most important employers and investors.
