The Taiwanese airline will use the larger Airbus A350-1000 on its route between Taipei and Prague in future. The aircraft with the special golden “AIRSORAYAMA” livery is scheduled to land in the Czech capital for the first time in early September.

STARLUX Airlines is upgrading its service between Taipei and Prague. The larger Airbus A350-1000 will be used on the route in future. The long-haul aircraft accommodates 350 passengers in four travel classes and features exclusive First Class suites, among other amenities.

Two aircraft featuring the special “AIRSORAYAMA Gold” and “AIRSORAYAMA Silver” liveries are likely to attract particular attention. They were created in collaboration with Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama and are also expected to fly regularly to Prague in future. The golden aircraft is scheduled to land at Václav Havel Airport Prague for the first time on 1 September.

Three-Year Art and Engineering Project

The two aircraft are far more than an unusual departure from STARLUX’s usual appearance. Their design forms part of a three-year art and engineering project. At the same time, the Airbus A350-1000 is playing an increasingly important role in the airline’s growth strategy for the premium long-haul market.

STARLUX announced its collaboration with Sorayama in January. The aim of the project was to combine the artist’s hyperrealistic robotic aesthetic with the technical form of the Airbus A350-1000. Born in 1947, Sorayama is internationally renowned for his depictions in which human and mechanical forms merge.

Golden Airbus Initially to Be Deployed Flexibly

Until 30 September, the “AIRSORAYAMA Gold” Airbus is expected to be deployed flexibly on various routes. It will not be permanently assigned to a specific route during this period. Before the golden Airbus arrives in Prague, flights are planned between Taipei Taoyuan and Osaka Kansai, as well as between Taipei and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi. The first flight from Taipei to Prague will then follow on 1 September.

From 1 October, both AIRSORAYAMA aircraft are expected to enter regular service. They are scheduled to operate routes between Taipei and Tokyo Narita, Taipei and Phoenix, and Taipei and Prague.

Specially Designed Items Also Available on Board

The design project is not limited to the aircrafts’ exterior liveries. Specially designed boarding passes, name badges, paper cups, napkins and other products created by Sorayama are also expected to be used on board. Limited-edition amenity kits for Economy Class and Premium Economy Class passengers are also planned for long-haul flights. The offering is complemented by the specially developed “AIRSORAYAMA Special Chrome Sky” cocktail, which is based on gin and sweet wine.

By switching to the Airbus A350-1000, STARLUX is increasing capacity on the route between Taipei and Prague. The aircraft has 350 seats across four travel classes. Business Class features fully enclosed suites. First Class, with just four seats, completes the exclusive offering on board.
