STARLUX Airlines Launches Direct Flights Between Prague and Taipei

STARLUX Airlines today launched its new direct connection between Prague and Taipei. It is the Taiwanese airline’s first scheduled route to Europe.

STARLUX Airlines launched a new direct connection between Prague and Taipei today, Saturday, 1 August. It is the Taiwanese airline’s first scheduled route to Europe. The connection will initially operate three times a week. From October, the number of weekly flights is set to increase to four. An Airbus A350-900 will initially be used on the route. From 1 September, the route is scheduled to be operated with a larger Airbus A350-1000, offering space for 350 passengers across four travel classes.

According to the airline, Prague is also currently the only European destination served directly by STARLUX. In addition, the company is the only airline to offer First Class on the route between Taipei and Prague.

“Prague is much more than just our first European destination for STARLUX Airlines. The connection represents an important milestone in the long-term development of our global route network,” said STARLUX CEO Glenn Chai.

The airline expects growing demand for business travel, particularly due to the expansion of the semiconductor industry in Central Europe. At the same time, the connection is intended to offer leisure travellers a more convenient way to travel between the Czech Republic and Taiwan, as well as to other Asian destinations.

Via the airline’s hub in Taipei, passengers from Prague can use connecting flights to numerous destinations across Asia. STARLUX serves destinations including Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore.

Prague Airport also welcomed the launch of the new connection. “We greatly appreciate that STARLUX Airlines has selected Prague as its first European destination. This decision confirms Prague’s attractiveness and the confidence the airline places in our partnership,” said Martin Kučera, member of the Prague Airport Board of Directors.

Specially Designed Aircraft on the Prague Route

Two specially designed aircraft are also set to be used on the new connection in the future. The aircraft, named AIRSORAYAMA Silver and Gold, feature a special livery designed by Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama.

Alongside Tokyo and Phoenix, Prague will therefore become one of only three destinations worldwide where the two aircraft are expected to be seen regularly. From October, the airline also plans to introduce themed boarding passes, baggage tags, placemats and amenity kits inspired by Sorayama’s futuristic style.

Singer Jolin Tsai, one of the best-known artists in the Asian pop scene, is supporting the launch of the new connection as a brand ambassador. For the campaign, she recorded a new version of her hit “Prague Square” and filmed an accompanying music video in Prague.

Following the launch of the Prague connection, STARLUX intends to expand its presence in the European market further. No specific additional European destinations were initially announced.
