With its new 2027 timetable, České dráhy is focusing on improved international connections, faster long-distance trains and an expanded night train service. There are also some changes to domestic rail services.

Several improvements to international long-distance rail services are planned when the new timetable comes into effect on 13 December 2026. Passengers travelling to Poland and Slovakia in particular will benefit from additional connections and shorter journey times. Night train services will also be expanded.

While most existing long-distance services will remain unchanged, departure and arrival times will be adjusted on certain routes. At the same time, the railway operator is continuing to gradually phase out older long-distance carriages.

More Rail Connections Between Prague and Poland

One of the most significant changes is the expansion of rail connections between the Czech Republic and Poland. An additional pair of EuroCity trains will operate between Prague and Wrocław (Breslau).

The new EC 160/161 Glacensis trains will complement the existing Baltic Express services. The EC 161 will depart from Prague Main Station at 8.49 am and arrive in Wrocław at 12.45 pm. In the opposite direction, the EC 160 will leave Wrocław at 3.14 pm and arrive in Prague at 7.15 pm. The trains will offer facilities including bicycle transport and a bistro area.

Services to Kraków will also be expanded. The Moravia EuroCity trains, which currently operate between Vienna, Ostrava and Katowice, will in future continue beyond Katowice to Kraków.

Journey times on the Prague–Kraków–Przemyśl route will also be reduced for the Cracovia EuroCity service. Trains are now scheduled to arrive in Kraków at 4.14 pm instead of 4.38 pm. Przemyśl will be reached at 6.36 pm, around 50 minutes earlier than before.

Pendolino to Košice Will Be Significantly Faster

There will also be improvements to connections to Slovakia. The SuperCity Pendolino Košičan will complete the journey from Prague to Košice around 40 minutes faster than before.

The train will depart from Prague Main Station at 6.31 am, 39 minutes later than at present. Despite this, it will arrive in Košice at almost the same time as before, at 2.18 pm. The journey will therefore take just seven hours and 47 minutes. In the opposite direction, the journey time will be reduced by around 15 minutes.

The EN Slovakia night train to Košice and Humenné will also become faster. The train will arrive in Košice at 7.27 am, around 45 minutes earlier than before. Arrival in Humenné is scheduled for 9.27 am, approximately one hour earlier than at present.

The car transport service on this night train route is also set to be expanded. During the 2027 timetable year, the Slovak partner operator also plans to introduce modernised double-decker sleeping carriages.

Further changes are planned on the Prague–Olomouc–Bratislava route. A EuroCity train currently operating on Sundays, along with its return service on Mondays, will be discontinued. Instead, an additional train will run from Prague to Bratislava on Friday afternoons, with the return journey taking place on Saturday mornings.

Night Trains to Berlin and Hamburg to Operate for Longer

The seasonal night service between Prague, Berlin and Hamburg, which has previously operated only from late May to late August, is set to run for a significantly longer period in 2027. Services are planned from late March to mid-October, extending the operating season by around four months.

The service will use a modern ComfortJet daytime train set and will also stop at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER). Trains arriving from Prague will reach the airport at around 4.30 am. In the opposite direction, departure from the airport is scheduled for after 1.30 am.

On the night train route between Prague and Budapest, České dráhy is also responding to growing demand for more comfortable travel options. In future, two sleeping carriages will be used instead of the current combination of one sleeping carriage and one couchette carriage.

Prague will also retain direct night train connections with sleeping or couchette accommodation to destinations including Zurich, Basel, Gdańsk, Warsaw, Kraków, Przemyśl, Poprad, Košice, Humenné, Bratislava and Budapest.

Additional Pendolino Services Between Prague and Moravia

A new Sunday service between Opava and Prague will be added to the timetable. The SC 518 Opavan will depart from Opava východ at 10.58 am and arrive at Prague Main Station at 2.26 pm. This means there will be a total of five direct Pendolino connections per week between Opava and Prague. The additional service is primarily intended to ease pressure on heavily used trains during the Sunday return travel period.

In addition, the SC 511 Pendolino service from Prague to Bohumín will be extended to Saturdays. This will close an existing four-hour gap in the afternoon timetable.

Ticket Sales to Begin in Late October or Early November

Ticket sales and seat reservations for the new timetable are expected to begin in late October or early November via the Můj vlak app and the České dráhy online shop.

The new 2027 timetable comes into effect on Sunday, 13 December 2026, and will remain valid until 11 December 2027.
