Prague will once again become a stage for international top-level sport this week. The World Climbing Series Prague 2026 will bring together world-class climbers, exciting competitions and a varied visitor programme on Štvanice Island.
Prague will once again become a centre of international sport climbing at the beginning of June. With the World Climbing Series Prague 2026, the previous World Cup event in the Czech capital takes on a new format and moves to Štvanice Island for the first time. From 3 to 7 June, visitors can look forward to a five-day event featuring boulder and lead competitions, international stars of the sport and an extensive accompanying programme.
For the first time in Prague, the two disciplines of bouldering and lead climbing will be held together as part of a single event. While the lead competitions are set to take place on the tennis centre court, the bouldering area will be built in the adjacent park. Organisers believe this will not only create a more intense atmosphere for spectators but also provide better infrastructure conditions.

“I believe the central court will create a truly electric atmosphere. At the same time, the venue offers better conditions and makes the event more sustainable because we can make use of existing infrastructure,” explains Jan Bloudek, Chairman of the Czech Mountaineering Association. At the heart of the event will be a monumental 17-metre-high lead climbing wall, built especially for the competition.
With the addition of the lead discipline, Czech climbing star Adam Ondra will also return to compete in front of a home crowd. The four-time world champion ended his bouldering career last year but remains among the very best lead climbers in the world.

“I think this will be one of the strongest lead competitions ever. The fact that both disciplines are being combined is great news. As far as I know, only Innsbruck does that as well – it is excellent promotion for the sport,” said Ondra, who says he looks back on a successful winter training period.
This year's edition is also regarded as an important test event for the Climbing World Championships, which will take place in Brno next year. All disciplines of international sport climbing are expected to be represented there.

In addition to international stars, numerous Czech athletes are also expected to compete. Among them is Arina Jurčenko, regarded as one of the biggest talents in Czech climbing and competing in both disciplines.
“I am especially looking forward to the atmosphere and the opportunity to compete in front of a home crowd. I am not setting myself any specific goals; first and foremost, I want to focus on my own performance,” explains the current Czech bouldering champion.
Extensive accompanying programme on Štvanice
In addition to the competitions, organisers are planning a wide-ranging accompanying programme for visitors of all ages. In the fan zone, guests will be able to try bouldering routes of varying difficulty levels themselves, take part in competitions and test climbing equipment on site.
