From 1 July 2026, Prague 3 will open new public barbecue areas. Visitors will be able to use the barbecue stations following an online reservation. A reservation fee of CZK 100 applies for one hour of barbecuing.

According to the district authority, there has been strong public interest for years in the opportunity to barbecue legally and safely in public spaces. At the same time, experience has shown that barbecue areas in conventional parks and green spaces often lead to problems.

“According to data from the Czech Statistical Office, Prague 3 is the most densely populated district of the capital. Finding a suitable location that is both safe for users and does not disturb nearby residents is therefore not easy. We have therefore looked for solutions in facilities that are designed for this type of leisure activity and already have appropriate management and supervision in place,” explains Councillor Jan Bartko, who is responsible for environmental affairs.

The new barbecue areas will be located at facilities operated by SARAP///. One barbecue station equipped with an electric grill and accessories will be installed at Teen Park Habrová, at the junction of Habrová and Květinková streets. Two additional electric grills will also be available at Rajské zahrady Park.

In addition to purchasing the grills, the project required the installation of the necessary infrastructure. Power connections have been installed at both locations, while tables and seating have also been added. According to SARAP/// director Václav Bartásek, the total cost of the project amounts to approximately CZK 800,000.

Reservations and payment can only be made online via verejne-grilovani.cz. The digital booking system is intended to simplify the use of the barbecue areas while also making their management easier.

The barbecue areas will be open to the public throughout the year. During the summer months, they will be available daily from 10 am to 7 pm, while in winter they can be used from 10 am to 4 pm.

With the new initiative, Prague 3 aims to provide residents with an attractive leisure activity while avoiding the problems that have occurred in the past when people barbecued in freely accessible green spaces. By locating the barbecue areas within supervised sports and leisure facilities, the district hopes to ensure greater cleanliness, better protection of green areas and increased consideration for nearby residents.
