New Street Football Pitch Opens Beneath Negrelli Viaduct in Prague 7

A previously unused area beneath the arches of the Negrelli Viaduct in Prague 7 has been transformed into a modern street football pitch. The new sports facility is open to the public free of charge every day.

A new public street football pitch has been created beneath the arches of the historic Negrelli Viaduct, near Vltavská metro station in Prague 7. The freely accessible facility is intended not only to provide space for football but also to become a new meeting place for the local community.

The project was initiated by Czech professional footballer Honza Mejdr. Inspired by Brazil's vibrant street football culture, he spent more than four years working to create a similar space in Prague. The aim was to bring football back into the public realm and bring together people of all ages.

The project was carried out in cooperation with the Prague 7 district and with the support of Coca-Cola. The Czech Railway Infrastructure Administration and Czech Railways also participated in the project. It was only through this cooperation that the area beneath the viaduct could be opened up for its new purpose.

According to the district, the previously unused site will now serve as a freely accessible venue for sport and social interaction. The pitch is open every day, free of charge, and can be used without prior booking. Regular sporting and cultural events are also planned, with well-known figures from the football community expected to take part.

A distinctive feature of the project is a large-scale mural by artist Ondřej Mio Michálek. The artwork captures the emotion and dynamism of football, giving the new pitch a unique character.

With the new street football pitch, Prague 7 has gained another public space for sport and leisure. The project is intended to provide children, young people and football enthusiasts of all ages with a free place to play sport together and meet in the public space.
