From the 2026/2027 winter season, Prague Airport will expand its route network with a new direct connection to Bolzano. The seasonal service is primarily intended to provide winter sports enthusiasts and holidaymakers with a faster journey to the Dolomites.

From 9 December 2026, there will be a direct flight between Prague and Bolzano in South Tyrol for the first time. Italian airline SkyAlps will launch the seasonal route for the 2026/2027 winter season and operate flights to the Alpine city until 28 March 2027, twice a week.

Flights will operate on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons. The route will be served by a 78-seat Dash 8-Q400 turboprop aircraft. With a flight time of around one hour, the new connection will significantly reduce travel times to the Dolomites. Compared with travelling by car, passengers can save more than four hours each way, according to Prague Airport.

“The new connection to Bolzano complements our scheduled flight offering during the winter season. The Dolomites are among the most popular international destinations for Czech winter sports enthusiasts. We are confident that the new route will attract strong interest. At the same time, it improves travel options between the Czech Republic and northern Italy,” said Jaroslav Filip, Director of Aviation Business at Prague Airport.

SkyAlps also sees strong potential in the new route. “The connection between Prague and Bolzano is an important step for SkyAlps and for South Tyrol. With the one-hour direct flight, we are bringing winter sports fans to the Dolomites more quickly while also providing travellers from South Tyrol with convenient access to Prague, one of Europe’s most beautiful cultural cities,” said SkyAlps President Josef Gostner.

The new route was established through a partnership between SkyAlps, tour operator VELLARIA Premium Travel and Prague Airport. Passengers can book tickets either individually or as part of travel packages that include accommodation and additional services.

Bolzano is regarded as the gateway to the Dolomites and is an ideal starting point for numerous ski resorts in South Tyrol. One of the best-known winter sports regions is Val Gardena. The region is also renowned for its winemaking tradition, Alpine cuisine and cultural attractions. Among its most famous sights is the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology, home to Ötzi, the more than 5,000-year-old glacier mummy.
