The German airline Eurowings will launch a new direct route from Prague to Rovaniemi next winter. The Finnish city on the Arctic Circle is regarded as the official home of Santa Claus.

Eurowings is expanding its route network from Prague by connecting the Czech capital directly with Rovaniemi in northern Finland for the first time. The new seasonal service is scheduled to begin on 20 December 2026 and will operate until 21 February 2027.

Flights will operate once a week on Sundays using an Airbus A320. Departure from Prague is scheduled for 12:50 pm, with arrival in Rovaniemi at 4:55 pm. The return flight will depart at 5:55 pm and arrive back in Prague at 7:55 pm.

According to Prague Airport, this will be the first direct air connection between Prague and the capital of Finnish Lapland. The new route is intended to provide travellers from the Czech Republic and other Central European countries with easier access to the popular winter destination.

Winter Destination on the Arctic Circle

Rovaniemi is located directly on the Arctic Circle and has a population of around 66,000. The city is internationally renowned as the official home of Santa Claus. Among its most popular attractions is Santa Claus Village, which welcomes visitors from around the world throughout the year.

The region is also known for its Arctic landscapes, the Northern Lights, and a wide range of winter sports activities. In recent years, Lapland has recorded a significant increase in international visitor numbers, establishing itself as one of Europe's most sought-after winter travel destinations.

Eurowings is part of the Lufthansa Group. Further information about the new route, as well as flight tickets, is available on the airline's website.
