‘Heroes’ Day’ at Prague Exhibition Grounds Focuses on Emergency Preparedness
More than 40 organisations will present their work on Saturday – with civil emergency preparedness and digital security taking centre stage

At ‘Heroes’ Day’ at the Prague Exhibition Grounds on Saturday, more than 40 rescue and security organisations will present their work. This year’s focus is on civil emergency preparedness and digital security.
How should people respond in a dangerous situation? At this year’s ‘Heroes’ Day’ at the Prague Exhibition Grounds, rescue and security services will provide practical insights into their work. Visitors can expect a family programme featuring emergency response demonstrations, specialised equipment and interactive tasks.
On Saturday, 26 September, the Prague Exhibition Grounds will once again become a meeting place for emergency services, security organisations and the public. ‘Den hrdinů’ (Heroes’ Day) will take place from 11 am to 5 pm in the lower part of the grounds and in Křižík Pavilion B.
The eleventh edition is being held under the motto ‘Preparedness Is Not Panic’. The focus is on civil emergency preparedness and the correct way to deal with fear in exceptional situations. Visitors will learn how to remain calm in an emergency, respond appropriately and help themselves and others.

More Than 40 Organisations Across Around 25,000 Square Metres
More than 40 organisations will present their work across an area of around 25,000 square metres. Participants include the Czech police and army, Prague Emergency Medical Services, the capital’s professional fire brigade, the fire brigades of Prague Airport and the Prague Public Transit Company, as well as Prague Municipal Police.
Visitors will be able to view emergency vehicles, ambulances and other specialised equipment up close. Practical tasks, demonstrations and insights into the training of emergency personnel are also planned.
One of the highlights is the traditional fire brigade competition involving the rescue of people from crashed vehicles. Professional teams will demonstrate the importance of experience, speed, the correct approach and effective cooperation in an emergency. Junior fire brigades from Prague and Central Bohemia will also showcase children’s fire-fighting sports.
Further programme items will focus on the work of dog handlers, water rescue teams, cave and mine rescue services, customs officers, the Czech Prison Service and the army. Organisations working in the fields of crisis assistance, prevention, mental health and charitable giving will also be represented.

Focus on Digital Security
Another focus is online safety. In Křižík Pavilion B, an interactive educational programme will provide information about online fraud, protecting personal data and finances, and staying safe online.
A separate programme for secondary school pupils entitled ‘Hrdina Online’ will take place on 23 September. From 9 am to 2 pm, participants will explore specific cases from the digital world at the New Spiral venue on the exhibition grounds. Talks, discussions, quizzes, workshops and online fraud simulations are planned.
‘Heroes’ Day’ is the highlight of ‘Heroes’ Week’, which will take place from 22 to 26 September. The project combines educational activities with the work of rescue and security organisations and aims to raise awareness that the right knowledge can be just as important as professional equipment in a crisis.
