Czech Republic Plans to Freeze Motorway Vignette Prices in 2027

Motorway vignette prices in the Czech Republic are set to remain unchanged in 2027. The one-day vignette is also set to be valid for a full 24 hours from the chosen start time.

Motorists in the Czech Republic are set to pay no more for a motorway vignette next year than they do in 2026. The Chamber of Deputies has approved an amendment to the law. The current one-day vignette is also set to change: it would be valid for 24 hours.

MPs voted in the third reading for an amendment to the Road Act that would abolish the automatic annual adjustment of vignette prices. The bill now goes to the Senate. The new rules are expected to take effect on 1 January 2027.

Under the approved proposal, prices in 2027 would remain at this year’s levels:

One year Vignette: CZK 2,570
30 days Vignette: CZK 480
10 days Vignette: CZK 300
24 hours Vignette: CZK 230

The approved changes also affect the one-day vignette. In future, it would be valid for a full 24 hours from the chosen start time. Someone activating it in the afternoon, for example, could still use it the following morning.

Transport Minister Ivan Bednárik said the decision to end automatic price increases was due to the financial burden on motorists. According to the ministry, the vignette price has risen by 70 per cent since 2022, while tolls for lorries have increased by 19 per cent over the same period. The ministry says it is also preparing changes to the lorry toll system.

The existing discounts for low-emission vehicles, including plug-in hybrids and vehicles powered by CNG or LNG, remain in the current draft. No change is currently planned for electric or hydrogen-powered vehicles either.

Electronic motorway vignettes are available through the official government online shop, edalnice.gov.cz. The Transport Ministry advises motorists to check the web address: other sales sites sometimes charge additional intermediary fees.
