The Prague Public Transit Company has launched a public tender for the construction of the future Libuš metro station on Line D. The contract value is estimated at around CZK 3.8 billion.

The Prague Public Transit Company has published the tender for the construction of the planned Libuš metro station. Construction work is expected to take around 54 months after the site is handed over. The new station is intended to extend the initially operational section of Metro D between Pankrác and Nové Dvory by a sixth station.

Libuš is planned as an open excavation with an island platform and two entrance halls. The station is to run in a north-south direction along Novodvorská Street, roughly between Cuřínova Street and the Obzor shopping centre, or the Libuš tram stop.

According to DPP, the station itself will be around 204 metres long. The platform is to be 12.06 metres wide and 102 metres long. No central columns are planned. The tracks will be located around 13 metres below the current ground level.

The southern entrance is planned near the Libuš tram stops and is to be directly connected to them by an underpass beneath Novodvorská Street. The northern entrance hall is to be built on the eastern side of Novodvorská Street between Machuldova and Cuřínova. A lift is also planned there, providing step-free access from street level to the platform.

The above-ground parts of both entrance areas are to be integrated in future into the ground-floor zones of planned new developments in the area.

The station will also include technical facilities such as ventilation equipment, power supply, pump sumps and other operational rooms. The selected construction company is to not only build the station and connect it to the tunnel tubes being excavated as part of the ongoing construction phase, but also install a large part of the technical equipment. This includes cable systems, ventilation, escalators, a lift, lighting and passenger information systems.

The contract also includes surface works around the station. These are to be coordinated with the construction of the new Libuš–Nové Dvory tram line as well as with planned private developments in the area.

Prague’s First Deputy Mayor for Transport, Jaromír Beránek, hopes that through good coordination of the individual construction phases, Libuš station can be completed in time to open together with the first section of Metro D in 2032. Libuš is a densely populated district that urgently needs a high-capacity rail connection. By linking the station with tram and bus services, it is also intended to become an important interchange.
