With the building permit now legally valid, the major project in Pardubice has cleared another important hurdle. Construction of the new multifunctional arena itself is due to begin in December, with completion planned for autumn 2030.
With the building permit for the new multifunctional arena in Pardubice granted, the project can move into the next phase of construction. According to the investor, piling work is due to begin in December. Earthworks are already under way on the site of the future complex. These also include the remediation of a former municipal waste landfill. According to the investor, preparations for the project to date have cost around CZK 1 billion.
The project is being developed by the D+D Group of businessman Petr Dědek. Dědek is also the majority owner of ice hockey club HC Dynamo Pardubice, which is set to play its home games in the new arena in the future.
“More than three years have passed from the initial idea to the amendment of the zoning plan. Now the project has finally been given the green light,” Dědek said in a press statement.
The main arena is set to have eleven storeys and accommodate 22,268 spectators for ice hockey matches. For concerts, a capacity of up to 25,000 visitors is planned. A smaller arena with 1,700 seats is also planned. For cultural events, it is expected to accommodate up to 3,000 people.

In addition to the two arenas, the entire complex is also set to include offices, restaurants, shops and a fan shop. Plans also include a multi-storey car park with more than 2,000 spaces, as well as around 1,000 additional parking spaces beneath the main arena. Completion of the entire complex is planned for autumn 2030.
New T ARENA Opened in Brno in September
Only at the end of September, another major arena project in the Czech Republic, the new T ARENA in Brno, opened its doors to the public for the first time. The multifunctional venue can accommodate up to 13,300 visitors and is set to become, among other things, the new home venue of ice hockey club HC Kometa Brno. The largest event arena currently in the Czech Republic is Prague’s O2 Arena, with around 17,000 seats.
